Backpacking 101: Day 2

<p>Ready to venture out into the country on foot? Join Environmental Education Intern Abby for a free, two‑part intro to backpacking skills! Program builds from one day to the next, make sure you’re there for both sessions!</p> <p>Friday, September 11 5:30-7:00pm<br />This session at the Bering Land Bridge Heritage Center covers clothing, footwear, what to pack, and how to stay safe in an emergency. We’ll walk through packing bags and learn about basic gear.</p> <p>Saturday, September 12 9am-1pm<br />We will test our knowledge on a group trip to Salmon Lake - hiking with packed bags, setting up, discussing trail tips, and packing up camp before returning!</p> <p>Transportation to Salmon Lake courtesy of the Norton Sound Health Corporation CAMP Department.<br />Snacks provided both sessions by Alaska Geographic.</p>
