National Public Lands Day Invasive Species Removal Event

<p>Do you enjoy working outside? Come join us on September 18th from <strong>10am to 12pm</strong> to celebrate National Public Lands Day -- an event that honors our public lands through conservation volunteers (like you!) who help restore and improve our parks' health.</p> <p>We will be focusing our efforts around Frederick Douglass House, working to remove <strong><em>English Ivy</em></strong><em> (</em><a href="https://extension.umd.edu/resource/english-ivy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Hedera helix</em></a><em>)</em> and other invasive vines from trees in the area. No prior experience or skills are necessary to attend!</p> <p><strong>What to Bring</strong></p> <p>Please wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes (sneakers or boots are recommended). <strong><em>Please make sure to bring your own water!</em></strong></p> <p><strong>Notes</strong></p> <p>There will be access to the restrooms located at the visitor center.</p> <p>Tools and gloves will be provided on site.</p> <p>If you are under 18 or bringing someone who is, please reach out to site contact ahead of time. Any attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.</p> <p>You will receive a confirmation email 24-48 hours before the event with more details!</p>
