<p>Guilford Courthouse National Military Park seeks volunteers to help with a big project: a biodiversity study of our park’s waterways!</p> <p>Over the weekend of September 12 and 13, 2026 citizen scientists can assist the National Park Service and the Deep River Riverkeeper by helping us identify species that live in our creeks and springs. This project will help the park update our long-term species catalog for future park natural resources planning. Plus, you'll receive a special sticker for your hard work! Anyone 16+ years old and able to walk through wooded areas and creeks may participate.</p> <p>Whether you have a niche interest in macroinvertebrates, freshwater wildlife, or just love being outdoors, we encourage you to join us!</p>

Fall Festival

<p>Rangers and park volunteers will offer a variety of engaging programs that appeal to visitors of all ages at the first annual Fall Festival.  </p> <p><strong>Outside Visitor Center</strong></p> <p>Operation Guilford Courthouse</p> <ul> <li>Throughout the fight for independence, patriots developed covert techniques to deliver hidden messages right under British noses. Junior Rangers will uncover the process behind sending undetectable letters using invisible ink and will write their own secret messages using a similar method.  They will then dive deep into the world of codes and ciphers and decode hidden messages in primary source documents. Put your spy skills to the test!</li> </ul> <p><strong>Greene Monument Lawn Activities</strong></p> <p>Colonial Medicine</p> <ul> <li>In 18th century America, there was limited knowledge and treatments for the sick or injured. Medicine had to be shipped to the colonies. Those who lived in the backcountry of North Carolina were not the first to receive medical supplies. What techniques did they use when common medicines were not widely available? Veterans Day Commemoration Battlefield Hike

<p>In honor of Veterans Day, join us for a ranger-led guided hike of the battlefield. Along the hike, guests will learn about the battle of Guilford Courthouse and how infantry tactics of the time contributed to the battle's outcome. Reenactors will provide a musket demonstration during the hike. </p> <p>The hike is 1.5 miles. It should take about 90 minutes. </p> <p>Note: The hike is subject to change and/or cancelation due to inclement weather, heat, or other unforeseen circumstances. Weather-appropriate clothing and closed toe shoes are recommended. Hikers should carry water.</p>

The Battle of Guilford Courthouse

<p>Join us for a ranger led discussion of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. Learn how British and American soldiers experienced the battle and how it affected the course of the Revolutionary War. </p> <p>Programs last around 30 minutes and may include up to a quarter mile walk.</p> <p>Note: Programs are subject to change and/or cancelation due to inclement weather, heat, or other unforeseen circumstances. Weather-appropriate clothing and closed toe shoes are recommended. </p>
