Paw Paw Harvest Hike

Discover one of the forest’s most surprising seasonal treats on this guided adventure through our woodland trails. Join a ranger for an easy walk beneath the late‑summer canopy as you learn how to identify the elusive paw paw, America’s largest native fruit, and hear stories about its cultural history, ecology, and importance to wildlife.

During the program, you will get to taste fresh paw paws and forage up to one quart to take home. We will show you how to spot ripe fruit, understand the tree’s unique habitat, and appreciate the natural and historical connections that make the paw paw such a beloved part of our region.

This hike covers gentle terrain with minimal elevation change, but the path includes uneven forested surfaces. For your safety and comfort, wheelchairs, strollers, and other wheeled mobility devices are not recommended on this trail.

Come ready to explore, learn, and enjoy a truly local treasure. Paw paw season is short, so this is your chance to experience it firsthand.

Can't make the hike at Piscataway Park? We are also offering it at Fort Washington Park- Paw Paw Harvest Hike
